Condition assessment of Concrete
and Steel Structures

alt text

We provide condition assessment for the existing and distressed structures by conducting Non Destructive test and partially destructive Testing based on International standards. Following tests shall be performed:

  • 1. Ultra-Sonic Pulse Test
  • 2. Re bound Hammer Test
  • 3. Core Extraction test
  • 4. Visual Inspection

Based on in-situ tests results, repair methodologies will be specified on the distressed structures.

Brief Description:The fire scene area was located along grid A between the grids 4 and 5, and from level +13.100 at the 1st floor to level at +26.230 on the roof. We note the following elements were exposed to fire. The fire origin took place in wall sandwich panels (Area 1 in the attached sketch) which contain around 70 mm of a highly inflammable insulation material (polyurethane). The fire scene duration was estimated at more or less 40 minutes. Due to the nature of unconfined fire scene (open area, fire in wall from outside), the heat release has little effect on rising the temperatures, except for certain elements located in the hearth where the temperature may have reached critical value.

Conclusion

The space frame and the main structure are still acceptable but require cosmetic repair (cleaning, painting,…) The façade panel purlins to be replaced in order to reconstitute the wall sandwich panels as per the original status. The horizontal façade steel can be used after fire, bolting and connections must be repaired.
